Jonathan Aitken's first book was a collaboration with fellow Oxford undergraduate, Michael Beloff - an account of their visit to America, published in 1966. I bought my copy in the Oxfam shop in Kentish Town, North London in 1998, just before charges of perjury and perverting the course of justice were brought against the ex-MP. Not only is it a first edition, but it's signed by the great man himself and dedicated to a couple of very close friends 'who encouraged me to complete this book'.
