ROBERT WEVERKA
The Waltons: The Easter Story

Bantam, New York, 1976
(price: $1.25; 188 pages)

The blurb on the back:

It was a bitter winter on the mountain. Olivia lay stricken with a desperate illness that crippled her legs and sent the whole family into a crisis.
Money was scarce. Doctor bills piled up. There was nothing to pay for food or gas.
Then, as Olivia struggled to walk by Easter - the season of renewal and hope - John stood suddenly accused of a crime, and the whole mountain wondered how the family would survive this winter ordeal.

No, of course I haven't read it. I do have a life as well, you know. And no amount of kitsch re-evaluation is going to make The Waltons anything more than sentimental self-indulgence. Over-camp, over-played and over here.
